POKOTABI / PLACES WORTH A DETOUR
La Blanche Hermine (ラ ブランシュ エルミン)
At La Blanche Hermine in Arai, Nakano, savour buckwheat galettes with a toasted aroma and soft, chewy dessert crêpes. From the classic complète to seasonal creations, discover a satisfying set-menu lunch.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
A buckwheat galette, cooked until fragrant and filled with melting cheese, egg and ham, makes a naturally harmonious combination. In a residential neighbourhood of Arai, Nakano, La Blanche Hermine draws diners for galettes and crêpes with a taste of France, as well as a varied selection of baked goods.
Galettes made with flavourful buckwheat batter are at the heart of the menu. The classic complète pairs jambon blanc (ham) with Gruyère and egg: simple, yet complete. Break the yolk and enjoy it with the crisp-edged galette. You can add vegetables such as mushrooms, tomato and red cabbage, or choose combinations with cider-braised onion confit or Basque chorizo.
For a filling lunch, set menus combine soup and a drink with a dessert crêpe. Warm up with a homemade seasonal soup, savour a galette, then finish with a soft, chewy sweet crêpe. Dessert options include Shinshu apple-blossom honey, or homemade salted butter caramel with vanilla ice cream, bringing a gentle finish to the meal.
Drinks include organic cider from Brittany, organic apple juice and fragrant buckwheat tea, all suited to the food. The cosy interior has a calm feel, and homemade baked goods are available to take away. Seating is limited and lunchtime can be busy, so allow plenty of time or plan ahead.
